The box where I am supposed to enter doctors expenses is grayed out and will not let me enter an amount.

Are you filing Married Filing Separately ? And did you indicate in the MY INFO section that you would not itemize ?

Can you enter any medical expenses in any of those screens in that section ?

Are you using the ONLINE or DOWNLOADED version ?

Thanks for your questions and possible response.  I got lucky and solved my problem.  I double clicked on the box by accident and it brought up old information from a previous year of doctors and costs that apparently were being used.  I deleted that information and was able to enter what I needed to input.  Who knew?

I think there is a problem with Turbo Tax here. If I import medical from Quicken to Turbo Tax, I will get that same problem. It put all my medical expenses into this one spot. I was able to correct it like you did and double click on the spot. If I do not import medical, then this problem does not occur.

Are you downloading data from Quicken or some other program?

Have you tried double-clicking on the box?

You may want to right click (or double click) on the greyed out space to see whether additional data is listed there.
