Medical and business deduction

I don't understand why I can't use my $3000 deduction for medical and over $1000 for business losses. I've always use both deductions in the past.

Medical and business deduction

Medical Expenses are an Itemized Deduction, they are also subject to the 10% of AGI limit (7.5% if age 65 and older). This rule states that only the portion of the sum (total) of your Medical Expenses that are above 10% of your AGI are deductible.

A Business NOL will only offset the same amount of Ordinary Income. If you have a remaining NOL from a Schedule C during any Tax Year, you must carry this Loss back by amending prior year returns. If this is the case in your situation it is advisable that you visit a credentialed tax professional to help you carry this NOL back on a previous year amendment.
