This is the 1st year I am taking my Medicare premiums deductions B and N for tax year 2025. I just learned that I could. Is it possible to take these deductions going back 4 years when I started Medicare? I am working, self employed and not taking social security. Thanks, Steven F.

Yes and no. I believe you are referring to the health insurance deduction for self-employed individuals. Medicare insurance premiums would be qualified health insurance for that purpose. That may be deductible on your Form 1040 since you are self-employed, provided you cannot be included on a group health insurance plan through your or your spouse's employer. You can amend returns from previous years to take the missed deduction, but you can only go back three years from the due date of a tax return to get a refund.
Thomas,
Thanks so much for this information! I will amend my last 3 years of taxes.
