How can I tell whether I'm using the Std Deduction or itemizing?

Line 8 on Line 1040 shows the deduction. If it is different than standard deduction amounts, you have itemized.

The standard deductions for 2018 are:

Single                             $12,000

Married Filing Jointly     $24,000

Head of Household        $18,000

For those taxpayers who are 65 and older or blind, add another $1300 for each condition.
