Line 32a of IRS Form 5695 includes a checkbox for a joint occupancy situation. (This is distinguishable from line 32b, which includes a checkbox for co-op or condo situation.)
TurboTax asks for an answer about co-op or condo (line 32b) but does NOT have a corresponding question for line 32a. I am only entitled to $1000 credit in line 29h. (Line 29h has a max $2000 credit, but as I split costs 50/50, I can only claim $1000.) TurboTax shows $1406 in line 29h, which is $406 over.
Please advise on when this issue will be corrected.

This is not broken. The question that @MarilynG1 has posted above applies to the entirety of form 5695, including line 32a. If you answer that question that you share your home then the system will divide the credit.
Let me ask you - have you filled out all of the information on the screen below?

Yes. Here is a solution that may resolve this dilemma.
Thanks, but I had already done that before posting here. The $1406 credit is based on my half of the cost. But 50% of the $2000 cap means I can only claim $1000 credit.
Please let me know when this has been fixed.
This is a known problem and under active investigation. Please check back with the program tomorrow or the next day to see if the update has fixed the issue.
Quick follow-up: this problem has not been fixed yet. Please indicate when this will be fixed.
We are hoping by this weekend, if not before. We don't have a specific date.
This issue still has not been fixed. Consequently, I cannot file my return, nor can I get my tax refund.
Please provide a date by which this issue will be fixed. If you this is not fixed by 20 February, I need to request a refund so I can use a different service to file my return. (Please provide instructions for requesting a refund from TurboTax.)
I'm not following what you're reporting as your expense for the Home Energy Credit. If your portion of the expense is $1,000, your credit will only be 30% of that. If you can give more details, we'll try to help.
You could step through the interview again and adjust your expense down to where your final credit is only $1,000 and not indicate that the credit is 'shared'.
To request a refund, Contact TurboTax Support and use 'Billing' as your issue.
As I explained before, TurboTax calculated a credit of $1406. I'm only entitled to 50% of the $2000 cap (thus, $1000); line 32a of Form 5695 accounts for this. There is an interview question for condo or coop (corresponding to line 32b of Form 5695), but the interview question for line 32a (joint occupants; my situation) is missing. I identified the problem a month ago, and TurboTax acknowledged it was a known issue under active investigation. But it's still not fixed.
I'm not going to adjust my numbers to come out with the answer I need -- that defeats the point of using tax software.
Directing me to the "Contact Us" page wasn't helpful for requesting a refund. There was no "Billing" dropdown selection. Please provide specific instructions for requesting a refund.
All major updates are now complete. Try this now.
It's still not working. As I've mentioned previously, there is an interview question for condo or coop (corresponding to line 32b of Form 5695), but the interview question for line 32a (joint occupants; my situation) is missing. Recent updates have not fixed this for the online version.
There is a question regarding Joint Occupancy in the TurboTax Online interview for the Home Energy Credit. It's the second question in the section. The next question asks if you 'shared the costs..'.

Those questions aren't connected to line 32a of Form 5695. (Or if, somehow, those questions are connected to line 32a, the software does not work.) As I've pointed out repeatedly, TurboTax shows a credit of $1406, but this is $406 over the $1000 cap (50% of $2000).
When will this be fixed??
You need to delete whatever you have entered and go through the step by step interview for this section. Entering an amount directly into line 32 will not trigger the shared occupancy questions. You need to start the interview out and let the system ask the questions and then it will enter the numbers into the proper locations for you as well as limiting the credit to 50% of what is available.
I did the interview questions already. I did not enter anything directly into Form 5695. As I've mentioned repeatedly, there is an interview question for condo or coop (corresponding to line 32b of Form 5695), but the interview question for line 32a (joint occupants; my situation) is missing. (The screen shots posted earlier are not connected to line 32a of Form 5695. When I view Form 5695, the check box for line 32a is not checked, and no statement was generated.)
I continue to ask without having received a sufficient answer: When will this be fixed? I've also asked for clear instructions on how to get a refund from TurboTax, but that question hasn't been answered either. (Do not direct me to "Contact Us" -- that unhelpful suggestion has already been made and wasted more of my time.)
