Last year I only received a $1500 child tax credit for 2 kids, and this year $4000 for 2 kids...why is it different this year?

Last year I only received a $1500 child tax credit for 2 kids, and this year $4000 for 2 kids...why is it different this year?
Last year the child tax credit started phasing out at $75,000 income (Single Filing status). This year the income threshold is $200,000

The Child Tax Credit increased to up to $2,000 for each eligible child under the age of 17 for tax year 2018 and beyond.

The Jobs and Tax Cuts Act has increased the Child Tax Credit from $1,000 to $2,000 per eligible child.
