Cannot enter high medical deductible for surgery on shoulder.

Itemized medical expenses must be reported on Schedule A, which is not supported by TurboTax Free Edition.

To claim this deduction, you will need to upgrade to TurboTax Deluxe.

Medical expenses must exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. Unless your deductible was higher than this, you will not notice a difference in your tax return. Even if this qualifies, unless you have significant other deductions, such as mortgage interest, you may be better off staying in TurboTax Free Edition and claiming the standard deduction, which is $6,350 for a single filer in 2017.
