It will not allow me to enter the child or dependent care amount for my son. It isn't making him an option to click at the end. Why is that?

Make sure that he was age 12 or younger at the time of the expense, and that you showed that he lived with you for more than half the year during 2017. If you need to, make changes in the Personal Info section, and then go back to choose your son as the individual for whom you paid the dependent care expenses.
