Is it possible to file a final K-1 from an estate in 2016, even if the closing date was Jan. 31, 2017?
TurboTax rightly points out that this final K-1 closed after the close of 2016, and therefore would go on our 2017 tax return. However, if it is possible, I'd like to report it early and tie up loose ends.

IRS matches the K-1's to the returns and with it ending 1/31/2017, it belongs on the 2017 tax return.
If not there, you are very likely to get a letter from IRS on the 2017 return if not there.
Just put it in tax folder with a reminder that this needs to go on the 2017 return.
