Is internet service considered a utility for a home office? If not, how can it be claimed?

Yes, you can consider this as a utility for a home office but the better way to report it is as a business expense. It is a direct operating expense for your business and should be reported here rather than a home office expense.

By chance did you figure this out? I cannot find where communications expenses are to be included!

In TurboTax, you typically claim internet and phone expenses as part of your business expenses, not under utilities. These are usually entered in the Communications section, which falls under non-driving business expenses or home office deductions depending on your filing situation.

To claim these expenses in TurboTax Online:
1. Go to the Income & Expenses or Business Expenses section (if self-employed).
2. Find the category for Communications or Phone and Internet Expenses.
3. Enter the business portion of your internet and phone bills.
