IRS my income tax check for back child support was your fee & state taxes deducted first?
If you owed back child support, the IRS likely would have taken this from your Federal refund. In addition, if you chose to pay our fees from your refund, those would also be taken.
In regards to state taxes, the current year would not be taken from your Federal refund and should be paid (by April 18, 2016, if possible); however, any prior year state taxes owed could have also been garnished.
You can call the Treasury Offset Program for more information regarding what offset your refund. You will also receive a letter from the IRS detailing the offsets and the organization (and their information) that kept the money.
