In late Nov. '17, I joined a company. In Jan.'18, my employer put $2400 total ($400 for last few weeks of 2017 + $2000 for 2018) into an HSA for me . I contributed $0 to

my HSA. How do I answer "Did your employer tell you about any other contributions?" since subtext states "...sometimes employers make contributions to your HSA that apply to a previous year"?

Yes, click on "yes" on the screen "Did your employer tell you about any other contributions?", then when the three new lines are exposed, enter the $400 on the first new line. "Employer and payroll contributions made in 2018 for 2017".

This will make sure that the $400 is not applied against your 2018 annual HSA contribution limit.
