I have to ask you (as much as you may hate it), have you done the HSA Reset as shown below? You are showing the symptoms of a "stuck" number that won't go away when you change your input and the only solution is to do the full HSA Reset to delete all your HSA data.
And after the HSA Reset, does the "Let's enter [name]'s HSA contributions" screen appear for you?
P.S., please remove your spouse's HSA account - that just confuses things although it was an interesting experiment.
Now what does TurboTax report as your excess (if anything)?
One more out of the box question - you didn't happen to do an IRA to HSA transfer (called an HFD or HSA funding distribution)? If you did, then you would need to delete and re-enter the 1099-R reporting the HFD along with the W-2s and other forms.
HSA RESET
***Reset***
1. make a copy of your W-2(s) (if you don't have the paper copies)

3. Go to the upper right and click on Forms, and
4. Select the desired form (1099-SA (if one), 8889-T, and 8889-S (if one)). Note the Delete Form button at the bottom of the form’s screen.
*** Desktop/Mac***
3. Switch to Forms Mode by selecting the Forms icon.
4. From the menu, select the form (1099-SA (if one), 8889-T, and 8889-S (if one)) you want to remove (if you don't see it, select Open Form at the top). From the Forms menu, select Remove [form name].
*** Online ***
3. go to Tax Tools (on the left), and navigate to Tools->Delete a form
4. delete form(s) 1099-SA (if one), 8889-T, and 8889-S (if one)
5. go back and re-add your W-2(s), preferably adding them manually
6. go back and redo the entire HSA interview....
So you did the HSA Reset to remove all your HSA data?
Are you saying that you are not seeing the "Let's enter [name]'s HSA contributions" screen again? Or does "The page will not let me edit or remove the wrong value." mean that you can see this screen but cannot change either value on it - note that you are not supposed to be able to change the first one which comes from the W-2, but the second on you should be able to change.
Let me ask you something out of the box...did you have an HFD (HSA Funding Distribution)? That's where you do a trustee-to-trustee transfer from an IRA to your HSA. This is reported on a 1099-R. If this is the case, you will need to delete and re-add that 1099-R in addition to the W-2s.
Anyway, come back and tell me what "The page will not let me edit or remove the wrong value." means, and we'll work it out.
Thanks for getting back to me.
I have had no 1099R or distributions.
Here is what I see in the UI. After clicking Deductions and credits -> Deductions and Credits summary, I get to a page titled "Your tax breaks". I see my child/dependent credits and other deductions. One of those deductions, I see "HSA, MSA Contributions - Form 5498" with $500.00 listed. I added it initially not fully understanding the entry, but I never should have entered anything, so I need it removed. When I click "Edit", I am brought to a page "Select the health-related accounts you had in 2025" with a bunch of check boxes to select health related accounts. I click "Continue" to where I am able to enter 1099-SA. I click continue again and again until I reach the end but there is no place to edit/remove the 500. The first time I got here, I was asked to enter contributions. I had to add $2300 of taxed money to my HSA to refill it (did not exceed max allowed) in 2025, so I added it there. It SIGNIFICANTLY increased my tax bill (Makes no sense)! I lowered it to 500 to see if that changed and left it there, and now cannot change it.
I tried deleting all W2s and adding them back with no change. I used the link below for that advice: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-credits-deductions/discussion/under-deductions-credits-under-h...
I'm reluctant to try that process again in case it doesn't work again.
I am slammed with work (developer of securities tax related software during peak tax season), so am REALLY hoping I don't have to rest the entire return...
Many thanks for your help.
First of all, at this point, don't worry about any numbers that are on Summary screens and not on a tax form.
Second, I am confused by your description. Did you or did you not enter a 1099-SA in the HSA interview?
"I click "Continue" to where I am able to enter 1099-SA." At this point, you should see a table of 1099-SA forms (presumably only one with $500). The title of the slide should be "1099-SA Summary".
You should be able to see on the right of the one entry in the table a pencil icon and a trash can icon. Click on the trash can icon to delete the 1099-SA.
I am just worried about why you entered the 1099-SA in the first place. Did you receive a 1099-SA form? If so, you should have entered it.
I, too, have done tax software (last century), so I understand the end-of-season pressure. Let me know what happens.
REPLY TO ANSWER ABOVE:
First, many thanks for the help! I do enter the 1099-SA that I am provided by the host of my HSA. The Gross Distributions show 7426.26 and the summary shows that number as well. I never see anything about the $500.
UPDATE: I played around with it a bit. I'm married filing jointly, so if I ALSO check the box saying my wife has an HSA account, her part of the interview provides the page I need to enter the 2300. Why doesn't it show up for me? It works, but its probably not right. I erroneously get an alert about over funding and my deduction is 2450, not 2300 ($150 deduction shows up for me). I'm very concerned as I have no idea where the 150 came from. I suppose I could fudge the numbers until I get 2300 and HOPE I don't get flagged, but I'd rather the software worked correctly.
Editing my previous posts is a bad way to have a discussion, so I'm adding my edit as a reply.

Also. the Summary page now shows 2450 instead of the previous $500. 😕
Where did the 2,300 come from? This is the first I am heard of it.
OK, let's start again. You are under Family HDHP coverage, right? For all 12 months? Did you have an excess contributions carried over from 2024? What were your employer contributions (code W in box 12 of your W-2)? What were your personal contributions (i.e., not through the employer). Same questions for your spouse.
This should tell us what your excess contributions are. Ignore the 1099-SA with a code of '1' - this will not affect the contribution limit for 2025.
I am a family with HDHP for all 12 months. My employer contributions Box 12, code 11) from 2025 were 6100. I personally added 2300 throughout 2025 from my checking account as balance got too low, staying right under the limit. I've never exceeded the max allowed contribution for any year. To avoid complications for next year, I now have the maximum amount taken out of my paycheck so I don't need to contribute from my checking.
And on the HSA summary page, it shows $150 deduction for me (???) and 2300 for my wife (when I was able to add the additional contributions).
Total distributions shows 7426 for me and 0 for my wife, as expected. Tax free company contributions shows 6100 for me and 0 for my wife. All other values are 0.

It does appear to be a stuck number issue.
I was concerned I'd be chasing my tail with this one (and wasting both of our limited time), so just reset the tax return and re-entered everything (it didn't take nearly as long since I had recently entered everything). It worked perfectly and now everything lists correctly. The app properly allowed me to enter contributions under my name. I would go through the interview process again to see if the contributions can be edited, but am too afraid to break things again. I really hope TT fixes this in the future as it wasted a lot of our time and I'm not the only one who encountered it.
I appreciate all the help, especially on a Friday. I was about to jump ship to another tax service until you chimed in and started providing all of that support.
