In 2020 I had a work-related move from Missouri to Massachusetts. I did not claim moving expenses. Should I refile my 2020? Took standard deduction, not active military.

My moving expenses were around $10,000.

Per the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond, moving expenses are not deductible on a federal return except for certain active duty members of the military.

There are several states that allow a deduction for moving expenses on the state return:  AZ, AR, CA, HI, IA, MA, MN, NJ, NY, PA and VA  You can enter your moving expenses in the federal software and the information will flow to your state return.

Yes you can filed an amended 2020 Massachusetts income tax return to claim moving expenses on your state return.

As awesome champ @xmasbaby0 said, moving expenses are no longer deductible on your federal return, but you have to enter those expenses in Deductions & Credits in order to get them to flow into state.

For instructions on amending state returns see I need to amend my state return.

For information about deducting moving expenses in Massachusetts see Moving Expense Deduction.
