In 2019 I had a large amount of home repairs and maintenance fees . We knew we were going to sell the house in 2020. Where is the best place to enter this amount?

Asking due to this statement found under additional info when entering repair expenses for a home office:  "More extensive work, such as remodeling or adding a new roof, should be added in the Assets section as a home improvement and depreciated (written off over several years)."
Since the house sold in 2020 I will not be depreciating this work.

If they are depreciable improvements that affect your office (roof, furnace, etc.), you still enter them as depreciable assets.

If they do not affect the office (remodel kitchen, bedroom, etc.), they are not entered anywhere.

If they are "repairs", either to the office itself (paining the office) or affect the office (painting the outside of the house, fix a hole in the roof), then you enter it as a repair in the Home Office section.

Since you did not SELL the house in 2019 then all improvements must be entered as assets for depreciation.  On the 2020 return the non depreciated portion of all the items will be handled when you indicate the property was sold.
