If your taxes paid on purchases is greater than the standard deduction, how can you declare the higher number?

I know that the standard deduction for married is 12,600.  If we pay over 15,000 in taxes for purchases,  how can we make sure that we input the 15,000?

Sales taxes?  Do you have receipts that show you paid over $15,000 in sales taxes to your state?

Go through the sales taxes interview and select the option for entering the taxes paid based on your receipts.

To enter your sales taxes

• Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
• Click on Deductions and Credits
• Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
• Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
• On Sales Taxes, click the start or update button

Or enter sales tax in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen.  Click on Jump to sales tax
