If the new standard deduction is 24000 why is mine only 12700?
i made 18000 less this year but i am getting more than a 1000 less than last year. why?

The standard deductions change next year when you file your 2018 tax return in 2019.
2017 Standard Deductions
Single $6350 (65 or older + $1550)
Married Filing Separately $6350 (65 or older + $1250)
Married Filing Jointly $12,700 (65 or older + $1250@)
Head of Household $9350 (65 or older + $1550)
