If i was partially reimbursed for mileage as a contractor can i claim balance of the mileage as a tax deduction

I am a contractor for a non profit that reimburses only a portion of the standard mileage rate, how do I claim the balance?

Yes, unreimbursed mileage is an allowable deduction if you’re self-employed (contractor) or own your own business.  If you are a W-2 employee, mileage is not deductible.

Please refer to the FAQ below for instructions on entering your business expenses, including mileage.
