Since you do not have a mortgage for your property, you should not enter anything in that section of your return. However, even without a mortgage, you can still enter the property taxes that you paid in 2017.
Use these steps to go to the section of your return to enter your property taxes for your home:
- On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
- This opens a box where you can type in “real estate tax” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
- The search results will give you an option to “Jump to real estate tax”
- Click on the blue “Jump to real estate tax” link and enter your information
