You can only deduct medical expenses that you paid and can only deduct them in the year which you made the payments.  

 

You cannot deduct payments made on your behalf by an insurer.

 

You can only deduct medical expenses for the tax year in which they were paid. For example, medical expenses incurred during 2019 and paid in 2020 can only be deducted on your 2020 tax return.

You can only deduct medical expenses that you paid and can only deduct them in the year which you made the payments.
