@zweinberg87 , did you work in China as a resident / citizen there for four months and then moved to USA or are you saying you are a US person ( citizen/ Green Card / Resident for tax purposes ) whom was in China while working for a US entity ( temporary work )?

@zweinberg87 , based on your response and absent any other contributing factors, I agree with @DanaB27 , that you (a) recognize the income as foreign income, (b) can ameliorate the effects of double taxation ( by US and China ) by using foreign tax credit ( form 1116) OR tax tax deduction ( if you itemize and within SALT limitations ).
