I want to be sure I noting volunteer travel expenses correctly in charitable contributions.

there was 3 volunteer trips in 2016 for a non-profit organization.  I added air fare, lodging and rental car expenses in these three categories from each trip. IS this correct?  It lists them as mileage, however there was no mileage to record.

As long as you entered the charitable travel expenses in the correct boxes, then the total cost will be included as a deduction.  It will be listed as mileage even though it wasn’t mileage -- that is just the way it is reported on the screen.  It will not have the “mileage” designation on Schedule A, only the total donation amount.
