I sold my house on January 3, 2018, but did all of the repairs, etc to get it ready for sale in 2017. Do I deduct those repairs in 2017 or 2018?

The cost of repairs needed to prepare your house for sale are not deductible.

They are added to the cost basis of your house which is used when you report the sale of the house in 2018.
