I sold my home 2019 and had many years of home office depreciation deductions which I thought Turbo Tax would calculate for this year's return, but didn't. Did I miss it?

The way it is supposed to work is this:

You enter the total amount of depreciation taken on your home office over the years in the Home Sale interview (Search for "home sale" and jump to it).

The amount of the depreciation recaptured appears in the following places:

  • line 39 of the Home Sale worksheet
  • line 12 on the "Unrecaptured Section 1250 worksheet" (Unrecap 1250 Gn) (or on the 6252 if an installment sale)
  • line 19 on Schedule D
  • line 6 on form 1040 (remember that it is net of other gains and losses)
  • lastly it is used in the income tax calculation on the Schedule D Tax Worksheet ("Schedule D Tax")

Can you follow that sequence and find where the depreciation was recaptured and taxed?
