I purchased my home in 2018, I had read somewhere that I can add the PMI I had paid to the mortgage interest. Is this true?

The PMI amount for your mortgage is not deductible on your return for 2018. 

The deduction had been extended through 2017 and there has been discussion in Congress to extend the deduction again for 2018, but that has not happened. 

In TurboTax there is a place to enter the PMI amount, along with the rest of your 1098 form information, but it is not going to have any impact on your federal return at this time.
