I paid for my kids December 2018 childcare tuition on Jan 2nd, 2019. Can I deduct that on this years taxes or so I need to wait until next year since I technically paid it in 2019?

If you're a cash-basis taxpayer (as most of us are), you can only take what you paid in 2018 in 2018.

You will have to wait till 2019 to recover your January 2019 payment.
