I only have my 1099 - SA document. It gives me the total of approved distributions but does not give me a breakdown. Can I just put the $ amount in and not all details?

Yes.  Just enter the dollar amount--it is not necessary to itemize the distributions.

To enter information from your 1099-SA,  please follow these steps:

  1. Click on Federal > Wages & Income
  2. Scroll down to Less Common Income and click on the Start/Revisit box next to 1099-SA, HSA, MSA.
  3. On the screen, Tell us about the health-related accounts you had in 2019, mark the box for the type of health-related account you had.
  4. Continue through the screens, entering the requested information.

Can you tell me how? When I answer the question about "yes" I used my HSA it automatically takes me to the next page to put in each provider, their address and Fed ID #.
