I noticed a house we sold 6-16-17 doesn't have real estate taxes on the 1098 along with a secondary residence that we refinanced. We paid taxes for 1/2 year, why zero?

We paid taxes on both of these mortgages for at least half of year - why would property taxes be zero on the 1098? Should I figure out the taxes through the escrow for the amount of time it was in our name? Thank you.

You should check with the lender that issued the 1098.

Since you sold the house, perhaps the taxes were handled at settlement.  Check the HUD-1 settlement sheet.

I'm guessing taxes were handled at closing. That being said, I paid more than what the 1098 says. Hmm...

That's OK.  Include the total amount of tax you actually paid.

That's what I thought - thank you!
