I need to input deductions for a catastrophic loss (our home flooded in 2016)

You can deduct casualty losses if you are itemizing on schedule A . 

  • In your open return, select My Account
  • Tools
  • Topic Search
  • Type 'casualties and thefts' in the box, then select GO

You can deduct casualty losses if you are itemizing on schedule A . 

  • In your open return, select My Account
  • Tools
  • Topic Search
  • Type 'casualties and thefts' in the box, then select GO
