I need to enter Medical and Dental Expenses in my State Tax form, but the block is gray, no entry allowed. How do I enter my expenses?

What state are you filing for?

Enter them in Federal > Deductions and Credits > Medical, and they will transfer to state as appropriate.

I am on the federal , deductions & credits, prescriptions expenses screen. It does not allow data entry.

If you are using the downloaded program then you may have a summary page hiding   that you used last year  so if double clicking on that input field will not work ...  go to the top left and click on EDIT then choose ADD SUPPORTING DETAILS.
