I need to adjust my income from my 2016 taxes but it will allow us to get EIC. I'm not sure how to file out the from. Do I file out the 1040X or the 1040A?

To make changes to a tax return that you already filed, you have to file an amended return, Form 1040X. Go to the following link for instructions to amend a 2016 tax return that you filed with TurboTax. TurboTax will fill out the appropriate forms for you.

An amended return (Form 1040X) cannot be e-filed. You have to print it, sign it, and file it by mail. It takes the IRS up to 16 weeks to process an amended return.

If you filed a state tax return you will have to amend that as well, since you are changing your income. TurboTax will walk you through that also.
