If you are a US Citizen or meet the criteria to be a Resident Alien for tax purposes, and need to file a form 1040, your moving expenses are not tax deductible on your federal return.
If you moved for work purposes and live in a state that allows you to deduct the moving expenses, you will enter them in the federal section in the deductions and credits section under Other Deductions and Credits. These expenses will transfer to your state return.
If you do not meet the criteria to be considered a Resident Alien or you are not a US Citizen, then you would need to contact Sprintax.com to help with your tax filing you would need to file a 1040NR which TurboTax does not support.
I moved here for work on L-1A visa and I live in MA, I have my W2 and my relocation expense is part of my salary and wages in box 1 and also mentioned in box 14, could you please advise how can I get a tax refund for this ?
No unfortunately, relocation expenses from another country to the US are not deductible on your federal return.
You may however may claim a deduction your Massachusetts state return but only up to the reimbursement amount your employer included in the W2. Here is how to report your relocation/moving expenses in your federal return.
Please read this document issued by the State of Massachusetts for further information.
