I’m a non resident of Ky and have worked here for several years now, always filing the same way as every year, but this year I’ll be getting a return back, why is that?

I live in Tennessee. I’ve never gotten a return back from filing my KY state taxes, but I don’t understand why this year I am?

You may have had more tax withheld this year than last. You can determine this my looking on lines 17 and 19 on your W-2 forms for 2023 versus 2022. Also, you can compare your Kentucky state return line by line 2023 versus 2022 to see what changed.

I did previously check the difference between this year and last which is why I became more confused. Last year I made $70 more, yet I got nothing back. Thankfully I didn’t pay in either.
