I lived in in-laws second home. I paid the property taxes on that home. Can I deduct them?

I also bought a home last year and I'm of course paying property taxes on it.

You cannot deduct property taxes you paid on your in-laws' home because the taxes are not imposed in your name, even if you paid them.

For the home you bought, you can claim property taxes you paid in 2016 and also mortgage interest if you have a mortgage.
