I keep selecting itemized deduction for my filing and it keeps changing back to standard deduction

There may be two reasons for that:

1. Do you have enough in itemized deductions to beat the standard deduction?  Below is a chart for what the government gives you for a standard deduction.  If your standard deduction is higher than your itemized deductions, then Turbo Tax gives you the higher amount.

2. Is your filing status Married Filing Separately?  If you are, make sure your filing status that you chose in Personal Info reflects this.

Either way, you can change the program to either kind of deduction. 

Go down to the bottom of the Deductions & Credits page.  Continue till you get to We've Chosen Standard Deduction for You.  By the Change my Deduction box, you can switch.

I switched but my final always goes back to standard. I think it's a glitch in the program. Happens every year...
