I installed an energy efficient exterior door in 2016 ($229), but did not claim any of the credit for TY2016. Can I claim the amount on my 2017 tax form as a carryover?

The door replaced an old steel door.  This is NOT new construction.  I did not claim any energy credits for TY2016.

Sorry...you must amend 2016 taxes to claim it.  No carryover is allowed unless the conditions on your 2016 tax return resulted in a carryover....but it must be included in a 2016 tax return, and attempted to be taken in 2016 first.....with the proper tax forms filed for 2016.
