I have standing bills for surgery from last year but have not made payments yet (hopsital, referring doctor, anesthesiology, etc.). Do I add them as medical expenses?

I assume not as no money has been paid yet, but I want to be sure I'm not shorting myself on my return.

No, it is not deductible until you pay it.

That's what I thought, but figured I'd ask for the sake of being absolutely sure. Never had surgery before! Thanks!
