I have out of pockets expenses for $778.53 for teaching expenses.

Can I deduct this under Turbo Tax deluxe which I am currently using or do I need to upgrade to Self Employed version.

If you received a 1099-MISC with an amount in Box 7 for the teaching income, you will need to upgrade to the Self-Employed.  If these expenses were related to W-2 income, you can enter them as job-related expense in the Deluxe version.

You should be able to deduct it as a regular expense in Schedule A
