I have an 18 year old daughter (turned 18 March 2017). It doesn't appear that I was able to use her as a deduction or get any tax credit for her for my 2016 taxes. Why?

You wouldn't get the Child Tax Credit since she turned 17 in 2016, but you should still be getting the $4050 exemption for being your dependent.  You can verify this by going to:

My Account (top menu), then

Tools

View Tax Summary (Under Other helpful links)

Exemptions (5 line) should be $4050 for each person claimed, including you, a spouse, and dependents.
