If you are using TurboTax Online, the only version that supports Schedule C with expenses is the Self-Employed version. So you will be prompted to upgrade to that if you are trying to enter expenses in a lower version. 

Or you can use any of the desktop version of Deluxe and input your expenses since it will also support Schedule C expenses. You can find the desktop versions https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/
