Was one a baby born in 2019? If so, you have to say the child lived with you the whole year to get the CTC.

Or---did somebody have 17 candles on the birthday cake in 2019? You lose the CTC in the year the child turned 17, and instead you get that lower $500 credit.

child must be under 17 as of 12/31/2019

child must have a social security number
