If your property taxes were included in your mortgage payment in 2017, you should contact your lender for property tax paid information

If not, try the below

  • Review your bank or credit card records if you paid the property/real estate tax yourself.

  • Go to your city or county tax assessor's website, and look for a link to "Property search" or "Property Tax records."

Although filing Married Filing Joint usually results in a better tax result, a couple may pay the IRS less by filing separately when both spouses work and earn about the same amount. When they compare the tax due amount under both joint and separate filing statuses, they may discover that combining their earnings puts them into a higher tax bracket.
