I had to update charitable contributions on the federal. After doing so the federal return didn't update but the state did. Why won't the federal recalculate?

You may not have had as much in your itemized deductions as what the government gave you, for your filing status.

Here are the amounts from the IRS.

  • $12,000     Single or Married Filing Jointly
  • $18,000     Head of Household
  • $24,000     Married Filing Jointly or Qualifying Widow(er)
  • $+1,800     Extra for blind or over 65
