Vehicle insurance is a deductible expense on a qualified work vehicle IF you are taking the actual vehicle expense deduction, meaning you are adding up all your gas receipts, oil changes, maintenance and other vehicle expenses.
If you are taking the standard mileage deduction, you cannot take a deduction for your auto insurance as well. This would be double dipping in a way as the $.535/mile accounts for the average cost of insurance, repairs, gas, etc.
