Each tax year is filed independently.

To claim your solar credit in 2024, you need to amend your 2024 tax return.

Can you clarify what you mean by you didn't "get" the energy tax credit?

Did you file your tax return trying to claim the credit, but you didn't have any income tax so the credit was carried over to 2025?  Or did you not even try to claim the credit in 2024 (in which case, you need to amend your 2024 return to claim it)?
