Vikkie101,

If you were paid wages by the employer during 2020 and you were treated as an employee (i.e. payroll tax deductions were taken out) then yes you should receive a W-2 by the end of January. Assuming the company is still in business (which unfortunately is not something that can be assumed for 2020) then the W-2 should come from the same source as prior years unless the company changed payroll providers (i.e. if ADP paid the wages then you'll get one with their name on it and your company listed as the payor.) If the company went out of business then it could come from a different source than last year but there's no way to predict what arrangements were made.

You should receive a W-2 for the job.   Employers have until February 1 to issue 2020 W-2's.

Every 2020 W-2 that you received must be reported on your 2020 tax return, even if they are for small amounts.  Remember that each one of those W-2’s has your Social Security number on it, and that income was reported to the IRS by the employer.  You do not want to get in trouble with the IRS for under-reporting your income.

ALL of your W-2’s must be entered on the SAME tax return.  After you enter the first one, you click Add Another W-2.

W-2's come from your employer, and they have until February 1 to issue it.  Some employers allow you to import the W-2 through the software, but for security reasons you still need information from the actual W-2 to import it.  You might need to phone, drop in, email and/or snail mail an old employer to make sure they know where to send your W-2.

It goes by when you were paid, not when you worked.  If the employer "cut the check" in 2021, you will not get a 2020 W-2  for the pay period ending 12-30-20..  The income will go on your 2021 tax return (you will receive a 2021 W-2 in January 2022).  Assuming you received pay from that employer, for earlier pay periods, you may end up with both a 2020 and 2021 W-2s. But, you  (probably) won't get the 2021 W-2 until 2022.
