There has been a lot of abuse in this area and that is why IRS needs to know what the vehicle sold for.
Call up the charity and ask what they got for it, and if you can;t find out there call a junk dealer and ask them what they would give you for a car like that to haul it away. If it is junked you are probably looking at a couple hundred dollars.

Try searching the VIN see if anyone is selling it you cant take the vin off the car!!
