I don't have any receipts for expenses related to my 1099-Q, it was less than $500 should I claim it as earned income?

Aside from supplies everything school related was paid for by financial aid and I've already submitted my federal return. My taxes this year fell below the poverty line at about $9,800. Is this oversight worth making a correction?

If you did not use your 1099-Q distribution for qualified tuition, related fees, books and room and board, then the amount will be taxable.

If so, you should amend you return only after your federal return has been accepted and you have received your refund.

The 2018 1040X (form used to amend a return) is not yet available in TurboTax but will be soon.
