I do not have EIC or any dependents on my return so why is my refund being held?

I do not have guardianship of my children and did not add them to my return so why is the IRS telling me it will have to be late February before my refund will be processed?

Are you sure you don't have one of those items?  You don't need kids to get the EIC ....  Look at your return... 

On form:
• 1040—EIC line 66a, ACTC line 67
• 1040A—EIC line 42a, ACTC line 43
• 1040EZ—EIC line 8a (no lines for ACTC since this is for single and joint filers with no dependents)
