i cannot enter the amount of after tax contributions for HSA in Turbotax deluxe desktop 2025

i cannot enter the amount of after tax contributions for HSA in Turbotax deluxe desktop 2025.  both interviews on the Wages & Income and Deductions and Credits are exactly the same and i cannot add the amount anywhere.  I've seen some of the suggestions you've given and tried them all to no avail.  This appears to be acommon problem with other users.  Please help me enter this and also, FIX the problem.  I want to file my taxes but this is preventing me from doing so.

There is only one HSA interview; for reasons I don't know, the product was coded so that it could be entered from both the Income section and the Deductions section.

As you have seen elsewhere, the screen "Let's enter [your name]'s HSA contributions" is not showing for some taxpayers, for reason that I have not been able to discover yet. This screen is where you would enter the "personal" HSA contributions.

Have you done the "HSA Reset"? Be sure to do every appropriate step...

HSA RESET

***Reset***

1. make a copy of your W-2(s) (if you don't have the paper copies)

2. delete your W-2(s) (use the garbage can icon next to the W-2(s) on the Income screen)

*** Desktop/Windows***

3. Go to the upper right and click on Forms, and

4. Select the desired form (1099-SA (if one), 8889-T, and 8889-S (if one)). Note the Delete Form button at the bottom of the form’s screen.

*** Desktop/Mac***

3. Switch to Forms Mode by selecting the Forms icon.

4. From the menu, select the form (1099-SA (if one), 8889-T, and 8889-S (if one)) you want to remove (if you don't see it, select Open Form at the top). From the Forms menu, select Remove [form name].

*** Online ***

3. go to Tax Tools (on the left), and navigate to Tools->Delete a form

4. delete form(s) 1099-SA (if one), 8889-T, and 8889-S (if one)

5. go back and re-add your W-2(s), preferably adding them manually

6. go back and redo the entire HSA interview....

If you have not been able to solve the situation with your HSA contributions using the suggestions provided, it would be useful to have a diagnostic copy of your tax data file experiencing the problem so that it could be submitted to the development team for further investigation and possible updates.

The diagnostic file will not contain personally identifiable information, only numbers related to your tax forms.

To provide the diagnostic file, follow the instructions below and post the token number along with which version of TurboTax you are using in a follow-up thread.

Use these steps if you are using TurboTax Online:

  • Sign in to your account and be sure you are in your tax return.
  • Select Tax Tools in the menu to the left.
  • Select Tools.
  • Select Share my file with agent.
  • A pop-up message will appear, select OK to send the sanitized diagnostic copy to us.
  • Post the token number here.

If you are using a CD/downloaded version of TurboTax, use these steps:

  • Select Online at the top of the screen.
  • Select Send Tax File to Agent.
  • Click OK.
  • Post the token number here.

If you are using a Mac version of TurboTax, use these steps:

  • Go to the Menu at the top of the screen and select Help.
  • Then, Send Tax File to Agent.
  • Post the token number here.
